Near the end of last year, I received an inquiry from a sweet couple flying in from Maryland to visit Central Texas with plans to elope while they were here. Jay and his fiancĆ©e, Lynn, dreamed of exchanging vows at Western Belle Farm in West, Texas. As it turns out, theyāre friends with the Huffman familyāthe owners of Western Belle Farmāand had fond memories of visiting the Huffman's original farm in Maryland before the family relocated and made Texas their new home.
When I saw their inquiry in my inbox, my eyes lit up. Western Belle Farm is one of my favorite venues, offering charm and natural beauty in every season. I have done more sessions than I could count in their fields! However, this time was going to be a little different. We were outside of the farmās regular operating season, meaning many of its signature attractionsālike the sunflower fields, strawberry patches, pumpkin displays, and innumerable photo opsāwerenāt available for the winter.
But, Jay and Lynn had their hearts set on a Western Belle Farm wedding, and I was determined to show just how stunning it could be, even in the off-season. When they arrived in Texas for the weekend, we headed to the farm for a quick tour and to finalize plans. After scouting the location together, I collaborated with the owner, Taylor, who added her unique touch to our selected ceremony site, along with hauling their beautiful vintage couch out to the field per this photographer's request.
The Wedding Day
The day of the wedding, we arrived midday to celebrate Jay and Lynnās love story. In a heartfelt and intimate ceremony, they were united as husband and wife. The ceremony was short and sweet, but it was filled with so much emotion that it brought tears to everyoneās eyesāincluding mine! The moment was shared only with each other, Jayās best friend (who officiated), and his wife.
Afterward, we transitioned to formal portraits, where we danced through the fields capturing every tender moment and celebrating their union in the best way I know how: with timeless, beautiful portraits that showcase their love story. It was clear with every photo I took just how perfect Jay and Lynn are for one another, and I am beyond grateful they chose me to document this beautiful day for them.
As it turns out, even in the off-season, Western Belle Farm retained its rustic charm, providing the perfect backdrop for Jay and Lynnās intimate elopement. The day was truly extraordinary and made even more special as their ceremony was the very first wedding ever held at the farm. Itās a place where memories grow, and who knows, maybe your love story could be the next to bloom here.
